PCK?
Hi all,
Mmmm so I was trolling through some other students blogs when I came across this one by Kirby Bunt titled “PCK and designing learning”. at first I had no idea what the heck PCK even meant (which I probably…definitely should know what it means). But yeah, so I ended up looking up this link on Google Pedagogical Content Knowledge to find out.
The site was full of random stuff but it basically boiled down to this one paragraph within the document,
“Pedagogical content knowledge is a type of knowledge that is unique to teachers, and is based on the manner in which teachers relate their pedagogical knowledge (what they know about teaching) to their subject matter knowledge (what they know about what they teach). It is the integration or the synthesis of teachers’ pedagogical knowledge and their subject matter knowledge that comprises pedagogical content knowledge. According to Shulman (1986) pedagogical content knowledge”

PRAC
Sooo Prac is coming up sooon! that exciting hey. it’s a pretty rough 3 weeks but its definately the more enjoyable and hands on part of my degree, as I study online and rarely get hands on experience. But I do have a few issues with it… Firstly, throughout my prac this year I have a multitude of assessment which sucks because I generally like to give my full attention to preparing for prac but I guess plans change right? the other sucky thing, and this point of view I see is also shared by Matt Scheiwe, and that is during prac we obviously can not work through the day so finances can be an issue for myself and other people, it’s kind of a real bummer 😦
On that topic I saw that through the last few weeks there been this random thing floating around on Facebook about this girl who is studying nursing and also has financial troubles during prac. So she started up an online petition for it. Now I think that education are definitely in the same boat but whatever, good on her 🙂
Assignment 2
Hi all,
Working through assignment 2 at the moment, been a bit of a crazy time. been working, doing my Cert 3 in Outdoor Recreation, and trying to get this assignment done, Lol. But I know I have it a lot better than some people who have kids or have to worry about a full time job, so I’m not complaining 🙂 It should not be too hard getting this assignment done, although I always leave it to the last minute…. bad habit I guess, It’s usually the referencing that takes ages for me because I leave that all to the end… MMM anyway.
